The phrase "the disciple whom Jesus loved" is used six times in the Gospel of John, but in no other New Testament book. John 21:24 states that the Gospel of John is based on the written testimony of this disciple. Interestingly, John is never named in the Gospel that has traditionally been attributed to him. Many scholars believe that "the disciple whom Jesus loved" is none other than John the Apostle, the youngest of the 12 disciples.
This series will explore the writings of John, including the Gospel, the Epistles, and the Revelation. In so doing, we will gain unique insight into the mind of John. And since John was especially close to Jesus, we will gain unique insight into the mind of Christ.
